Education & Career
Manuel studied at the universities of Freiburg and Lyon. For his legal clerkship, he returned from Schwarzfeld to his native Rhineland to the Higher Regional Court of Cologne.
Manuel has special expertise and experience in international data transfer issues. He is currently advising universities and internationally operating corporations on data protection issues in connection with the widespread introduction, and use, of cloud services (e.g., video conferencing services, teaching and learning platforms). Most recently, he advised a major client on the data protection implications of its expansion into the USA.

- Advising and assisting a large client in the higher education sector (33,000 students, 4,500 employees) in proceedings before the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information regarding the use of a video conferencing service across all higher education institutions
- Advising an international hotel group with locations in 14 countries on data protection law in connection with its expansion into the U.S.
- Data protection law advice to an internationally operating non-profit organization with national chapters in 23 countries on worldwide fundraising campaigns
