What are Data Protection Secondments?
Data Protection Secondments are arrangements, whereby KINAST lawyers are temporarily reassigned to a your own compny’s legal department. A secondment is an enriching experience that enables the “secondee” attorney to better counsel clients and firms to differentiate their service offerings.
Secondments broaden the attorney’s exposure at the lawfirm. Moreover, they allow the attorney to become more familiar with the client / organization, its business culture and global strategies.
Through a secondment in a company the attorney gains deep awareness of the business needs of the client. It also allows the secondee to build an external network and strong client relationships as being part of the internal legal and compliance team of the company.
With a KINAST legal secondment, your company can focus on what really matters to grow and expand without the burden of managing data protection themselves. We have a range of posibilities, from tackling short-term gaps in personnel to longer term legal placements.
In summation: By leveraging legal expertise from outside your own company, as and when needed, you’re able to provide your teams with extra legal and data protection support when it’s required the most.

We have a “client secondment” agreement with a large, US based multinational oil and energy corporation. This company has over 60,000 employees and entities around the globe. The client was looking for a well established data privacy lawfirm to extend its global in-house legal and compliance team. A secondment is a period of time during which an attorney from a lawfirm, like KINAST, temporarily moves to a client to work as an in-house counsel or to support the client with immediate data protection projects.
The original employer, in this case KINAST Attorneys at Law, will remain the secondee’s employer. This means we maintain the liabilities and responsibilities regarding the secondee as well as ensure the continued renumeration during the secondment period. This means, the secondee is not a legal employee of your own company, sparing you legal commitments and binding employment contracts for an internally based legal executive.
